Vintage Country Music Jukebox

A selection of tracks courtesy of the Document Records Roots & Country Series. Featuring Al Dexter and Stuart Hamblen who were recording in the 30's 40's and 50's.

Stuart Hamblen was a stalwart of Country Music for over 60 years and his contribution to the genre was considerable, both as a singer/songwriter and as a bandleader. He is best remembered as the author of the 1954 hit This Ole House and the gospel song It's No Secret, written duing his association with evangelist Billy Graham and recorded by, among others, Elvis Presley and Jim Reeves.

Al Dexter. In 1942, a British national newspaper carried a cartoon of an allied soldier threatening a pistol-toting Hitler dressed as a housewife.
